But, it seems as though separated calves will end up in spots where buck deer go in hunting season - small depressions out of wind like deep cow paths, clumps of tall grass along a fence line or the top end of a waterway that didn’t get all mowed down, or a small scrub 4-5 foot mulberry tree to block the wind. You might also put out the word with local acreage owners to be on the lookout and to give you a call BUT they shouldn’t try to catch it for you lest they spook it some more……
Usually, the calf and cow will go back to last spot the calf nursed. Fingers crossed for you. | |
