| You can’t support the legalized racism and gender discrimination that DEI is by definition and then claim race and gender are not important to you. I can say that they aren’t because I don’t want race and gender to be any part of the hiring process so I can. That is a difference between our stances.
To be fair it is virtually never the truth that any politician is actually the best fit for the job they are doing. Some might get very close but politics is a different animal than the normal business environment when it comes to who gets a job. That is just a dirty little fact of politics and it happens in every administration.
I agree with your stance of equity of opportunities but not equity of outcomes. That is precisely why all of those boxes for genders and races should not be on any application form. DEI is literally about removing equity of opportunities to try to achieve equity of outcomes.
One example of what you are thinking doesn’t happen is with air traffic controllers. It was discovered that highly qualified white men who were air traffic controllers while serving and were now applying for civilian air traffic controller jobs were getting overlooked because of DEI hires of unqualified women and minorities. There will be many more of that type of situation. Introducing DEI rules to the hiring process require that it will happen. There is no way to avoid it if DEI is implemented.
