Subject: 2230FH Field Cultivators

Is there something wrong with these new field cultivators from John Deere? I see a lot of 1-2 year old used ones sitting on lots. I'm guessing the complexity of TruSet is problematic? Maybe it's just a bunch of MUD deals with guys trading every year.

I've always ran Case IH field cultivators with the exception of one 980 JD. I loved the 4800, 4300, & TM200. But I've bought two different TM255's & am disappointed in the frame and harrow quality. I almost traded my last TM255 off for a 2230FH, but I do a lot of road travel and don't care for the caster wheels. I also thought the electronics on the Deere would cause grief like my 1st TM255 did. Cheap flimsy harrows twisting, & something bent causing the main left tire to lean on this 2nd TM255. Changed the spindle and hub & it's still leaning. How the heck that's out of alignment is beyond me. Every thing else looks straight on it. I know Deere"s are heavy pigs, but maybe that's a good thing after this experience. Frustrating.
