Wilcat - 4/22/2025 04:47 With the initial investment your daughter has in these rodeos, I would think trading that truck off ASAP would be an easy decision. If you say "horse", money is not an issue, and backordered parts is a very bad sign that there are several trucks with the same issue. Travel softball may be an option also- sell that 75K hay burner, and start her college fund.

Travel softball is not cheap either and unless she is 10 years old, there is no way she is getting on an A level national team after the age of 10 with no softball history.  My daughter is 17.5 and plays on a national A level team and travels all around the country, but we TRY to limit it just the upper mid-west.  She has been playing ball since she was 6 and played on competitive travel teams for the last 5 years.  By the time they hit the age of 14-15 they will most likely be WITH an A level team that they will stay with until graduating high school.

All of these A level travel teams have college scouts watching them play when they are sophomores and juniors.  They usually start getting recruited in late sophomore year of high school.  If a girl wants to play for a D1 school then they have to have the skills, talent, experience and also need to have a high GPA and excellent ACT/SAT score.  My daughter is paying for half her expenses this year and she has already spent about $6K.  We cover the rest and wife travels with her.

Travel, A level, competitive softball can be very expensive.  Probably nowhere near what horses cost, but still, it's not cheap and the players almost all have natural talent.  This isn't something you come into and "learn" on the fly.
