The tall front tires are basically a way to elevate the front axle, while a vertically oriented bull gear axle elevates the rear. Typically for pulling transplanters, sprayers, harvesters, and wagons without damaging delicate, higher-maintenance crops. Typically not used for heavy tillage, so no need for fat tires.
Some vegetables are grown on wider, row-crop style spacing (potatoes, sweet corn), but many (like many greens) are planted in high-density beds, so narrow tires maximize cropping space. The tires are typically in the 9.5"-13.6" section width range. | |
