I can see your point and there likely is some truth to it as far as secondary education is concerned, especially when it comes to arts and humanities type of education. I suspect that the sciences and trades would tend to appeal to the more logical thinking right leaning people though to balance it out.

I would suspect that a similar situation would occur where studies in law tend to appeal to the right leaning people and the social worker types of jobs tend to appeal to the left leaning people. One segment thinks logically and prefers judgments to be made through logical, black and white terms. The other segment wants judgments to be made for emotional reasons.

That same difference occurs in the hiring process. DEI hiring is based on emotional reasons while the best person for the job type of hiring is based on logical choices.

I also think that in general the left have an underlying misconception about the thought processes of those on the right. I’ll start off by saying we need to exclude the extremes on both sides as there will always be some outliers.

I’ll use your description of how the right view people different from themselves as you appear to have a strong opinion in this matter. The right tend to not support and not feel the need for gay rights, parades, etc, etc. The left tend to view that attitude as being uncaring and perhaps even hateful. But it actually isn’t about not caring about the people, it’s about not caring about the persons sexual preference in general.

To explain that further I will use my own attitude towards it because I don’t support gay rights, parades, etc, etc. The reason I don’t support those things isn’t because I don’t care about them. It isn’t about not wanting them to have rights. It’s about wanting them to have the same rights as I do. It’s literally because I don’t care that they are gay. It is actually the fact that they want to be treated differently and special that I have a problem with. I do not see a need to treat them differently or more deserving of appreciation than straight people. We are all just people and a persons sexual preference isn’t any more of a concern of mine than my sexual preference would be to them. I simply don’t appreciate someone making their sexual preference my concern.

The peculiar thing is that in general the left leaning people will judge me much more harshly than I would judge gay people.

That pattern exists across many of these types of issues. Often the left doesn’t realize how unforgiving and unaccepting they are of the people who they are calling out for being unforgiving and unaccepting of others. In many cases I don’t think the left realizes that the vast majority of people on the right are not some boogeymen that hate everyone that is different. We just don’t want to have to treat them different because they think they are from some special group.
