Subject: RE: JD 1590 Drill planting milo

Tried to calibrate it last night. We could get the rate somewhat close but the slightest adjustment caused big changes in seeding rate.
I have the front rank locked up. This is a 20' drill with the 2 point hitch so it is pretty heavy and have not had a problem getting it to penetrate on a 15" spacing, but have also had it pretty full of seed, so that may be an issue since we will be carrying a small amount of seed in the hopper.

Priced the half speed kit from deere this morning at $500. Seemed pretty pricey for 2 sprockets.

I had the same thoughts about the seed running low, and still having a lot of seed in the drill.

Also noticed that we would not be able to see the seed in the cups at that low of rate so if a row stops feeding or stops up you may not know it for a good while.
