CMN - 4/21/2025 11:24 I googled...BA% blood test. AI Overview "BA%" in a blood test refers to the basophil percentage measurement, a part of a Complete Blood Count (CBC). Basophils are a type of white blood cell, and their percentage in the total white blood cell count can be an indicator of certain health conditions. Here's a more detailed explanation: What is a Basophil? Basophils are a type of white blood cell that plays a role in the immune response, particularly in allergic reactions and inflammation. Why is the percentage measured? The basophil percentage helps determine the proportion of basophils compared to other white blood cells, providing information about the overall white blood cell composition. Normal Range: A typical normal basophil percentage is usually reported as 0.5% to 1% of total white blood cells, according to Cleveland Clinic. AI Overview Mayo Clinic ... Basophils are a type of white blood cell, specifically a granulocyte, that play a role in the body's immune response, particularly in allergic reactions and inflammation. They are the least numerous of the white blood cells but are known for their role in releasing histamine and other substances that mediate allergic reactions. Mayo Clinic mentions that basophils also have a role in wound healing, infection, and allergic reactions. Everything You Need To Know About Basophils Here's a more detailed look at basophils: Function: Allergic reactions: Basophils contain granules that release substances like histamine, contributing to the symptoms of allergic reactions, such as itching, runny nose, and watery eyes. Inflammation: They also play a role in inflammatory responses by releasing other substances that can attract other immune cells to the site of inflammation. Wound healing: Basophils are involved in the body's natural healing process after an injury. Infection: They participate in fighting infections, particularly against parasites and certain types of bacteria. Normal Range: Basophils typically make up a small percentage of white blood cells (less than 3%). A normal basophil count is usually between 0 and 300 per microliter of blood, but this can vary slightly between labs. Abnormal Basophil Counts: Basophilia (High Count): Can be seen in allergic reactions, certain infections, autoimmune diseases, and some types of blood cancers, Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. Basopenia (Low Count): May be associated with allergic reactions or infections, Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. What does an abnormal BA% indicate? Elevated BA% (Basophilia) High basophil levels can be associated with allergic reactions, infections, chronic inflammation, certain blood disorders, and even some types of cancer, according to HealthMatters. Low BA% (Basopenia) Low basophil levels are less common and may not always be a cause for concern, but they can sometimes indicate an underlying health issue, notes HealthMatters. How is it measured? Basophil percentages are typically determined as part of a CBC blood test, which involves analyzing a sample of blood under a microscope or using automated instruments.

Thank you.  I found that also, not quite as robust though.  Doctor doesn't spend a lot of time on all these, rather looks at glucose and cholesterol.
