Old news....so your new metal roof got dented in a recent hail storm, that's cosmetic damage...that coverage exception has been around since 2000 to my awareness.

Your state's insurance commissioner might have a for examples break down in various cities for home ownership insurance. There can be a wide deviation.
But on another note, I got insurance from one company, and either the company or agent "twitched" what I wanted. So after addressing this issue, the "good neighbor" company canceled the policy. Upshot is read the fine print, cause you may not have what you think you have.
