I think they want you to fast for 12 hours for a lipid panel. Shorter fast and your triglycerides will be higher, longer fasts can raise your cholesterol I believe. Beings she had an infection and was on antibiotics I would get another test. Based on my observations, lipid panels can change quite a bit based on short term diet changes and fasting status, I can't imagine what an infection or medicine would do.
Agreed, 12 to 14 hr. fast before the blood draw. The fact that you were just getting over an infection should have postponed the blood draw. |
