Several years ago we rented a 7-passenger van in London after spending 5 days walking and Hop-on-Hop-Off--ing around town. We immediately left town via google maps thru some really tiny winding neighborhood roadways and alleys and spent another 5 days seeing things far removed from the Big City. My b-i-l who was a rural mail carrier was the designated driver b/c he at least was used to being on the wrong side of the vehicle. He did a great job. We didn't spend much time on the freeways or big roads...mostly small country paths. We were able to do a one-way drop on the van...rented in Kensington and dropped at Heathrow. But that rental wouldn't have been something we'd have done to stay in the city of London and try to drive around. Fun factor would be very, very low.
