Nwmo | After having done a keto/carnivore diet for almost 2 years now, I have come to realize there is a big difference between eating keto and being in ketosis. About the only way I can get ketones over .5 is to fast for multiple days. I think one of the big things people on both sides gloss over, is to get the therapeutic benefits of ketosis, ie controlling seizures, cancer cell starvation, and mental health benefits a person needs to maintain a high level of blood ketones. Some can do it by eating meat only but I can't. I suspect I get too much protein during my meals and it is converted to glucose but I don't know that to be true.
I did lose quite a bit of weight just eating keto and having ketones under .5
Something to think about if your son wasn't measuring ketones when he tried it. | |
