Idaho | OntarioCanuck - 4/18/2025 14:26 Tradition says they were written by Mathew, Peter, John and Paul etc but they are all anonymous and there is no way to know who actually wrote them. Scholars will point out many inconsistencies in sections indicating different writers wrote different parts of what is by tradition attributed to one named author. They determine this by style etc that is not consistent of one author. And who knows since there is no original texts to look back on just hand written copies of hand written copies with who knows how many changes from copy to copy. You can just believe that a name is the author but there is no evidence to prove that belief is true or that the name selected is the same person/author that is written about in the story.
Which scholars would you like to believe? Every heard of Sir William Mitchell Ramsay or the Tubingen theory? Or for that mater Lee Strobel.
Now you wish to talk about writting styles, have you heard of Chiasm? How many people do you think use that style of writting? It is not uncommon yet not real common either. Just a few examples from scripture. Ecclesiastes 11:3-12:2 writen by Solomon, Genesis 6-9 by Moses, Amos 5:4-6A by Amos, Isaiah 1:21-26 by Isaiah and maybe a few others, Joshua 1:5-9 by Joshua, Matthew 23:12 by Matthew, Mark 2;27 by Mark, Job 3:17-21 by ? Many authors over quite a time span. These are simple verses, how about we make it a little more interesting and throw in the book of Habakkuk.
Maybe you know what Criasm is, if not maybe you have taken the time to look it up. If neither is the case than it is a AB X BA style of writting or speaking (not the music group) where X is the central or turning point. Guess what, all of scripture is one large ABBA. What is the X you might ask: Jesus and the cross. What are the odds that could be pulled off over a 2000? year span in 66 books written on 3 continents by 40 different authors without it being the inspired word God. My guess is about the same as a big bang starting everything!
