Subject: RE: History of tariffs.

if basically china is the endgame in the tariff talk/trade war, we`ve got to be especially committed to the cause, because china`s leader for life xi jin-mao has no qualms in starving his people to save face. his thought is probably waiting out the clock with the thought America might swing to a more communist friendly party in 2028. he`s got 3 years (so he thinks) to wait this out and we might have 20 years to wait them out.

it`s interesting that trump put a 145% tariff on them, it sends the message "we don`t have any interest in negotiating ... we`re done with you!" a 30% tariff or similar would have wiggle room. and let`s say that a more communist friendly party does take power in `28, how would the tooth paste be put back in the tube? rain forests in south america would be already cleared and planted to chinese beans, factories in the US will be ramped up to replace chinse imports (for the most part) .

i think love or hate donald trump, the world has changed and the quicker that china can be written off, the better off we will be and roll up our sleeves and get to work. just my 2¢
