I guess you can shop around for a demographic that suits what you want to believe but sticking to the rural urban divide that I posted about in Canada I did a little search for the same comparison in the US
Searching for per capita deaths by gun in US urban versus rural
and What did I find ?
Same as Canada, more per capita deaths in rural areas of US compared to urban areas
