 39.48, -82.98 | My sister started putting our info into Family Tree Maker years ago. It helped to organize the data you had, but didn't add anything and didn't make it accessible to anyone else. Eventually, moved it to Ancestry and that made a world of difference. I've heard it said that about 80% of the value in data comes through aggregating it, and that certainly holds for genealogy.
So, my suggestion is to put it online and use their resources to extend your tree, link to others' trees, and do genetic testing. Ancestry is as good as any, but there are others. Many genealogists post at multiple sites, casting their net as wide as possible. You may have hit a brick wall on a line, but someone somewhere has exactly the information that you're needing. | |
