Shrink is manageable by sending cattle in before sale day.

Yes, no, maybe. Every sale barn has different set of norms. Very normal practice in this area to haul in day before and stand dry overnight. In my case that also involves 125 miles of transit. I can somewhat control my shrink with management but remember that might limit who bids on them also. The larger barns here will handle 3000 to 6000 head in one sale.

Dry stand over night is huge shrink but usually get the best bids. Buyers know calves are empty.
