 Frost,Mn | I somewhat agree. Our last pastor, who was a good man, loved his hymns and a lot of them. Me being 56 years old was even becoming frustrated with them because it was a big part of the service and mentioned it nicely to him that I thought being more upbeat would be refreshing. His response was that the check writers don’t like a guitar in the church and I pointed out the check writers were dying, maybe being a little brutal as he got kinda quiet. He retired and we fortunately found an excellent replacement who has drawn many young people back to attending church and being involved. We haven’t caved to the liberal thoughts of modern times, in fact we left the ELCA a few years ago for obvious reasons and are adapting and growing with a more diverse church service. | |
