NEMO | Well, since you came back with a humble answer instead of being defensive, I'll try to help. Parasite control in cattle is cheap and easy, internal and external. Get on a regular schedule as advised by your vet for your area. I doubt that parasites killed your cows though. Up in MO, if cows aren't kept fed with a full belly in the cold, they will push fences and find feed unless forced in by a hot wire. You're not fighting cold by most cow man's standards, so it should be easier to keep at least some condition on. I think Jim wastes hay, but he's more right than wrong to over feed, and the cows have a nice warm bed. I have learned a lot in my years by talking to other good cow people, and I continue to learn always. Seek out somebody you look up to as a cowman. Ask advice, ask him what he sees wrong. 5 pounds of that corn you're grinding will solve lots of issues, don't let cows get too thin to start with, don't forget protein and good mineral. I don't aim to hammer you, but most of us up here in cold country would think 4 dead cows is a big deal.
