Western Oregon | I just turned 69. My wife was diagnosed with fibro 25 years ago and had to retire 10 years later. Been a continual loss of strength and stamina. I am in good health but have limitations from polio, 2 polio relapses and an ankle joint removed and fused. I am on arm crutches 50% of the time. Hand, arm and shoulder surgeries have left arm weak and almost useless. I retired at 55. Wife is not able to cook, clean or shop, but is able to take care of herself and do some crafts during the day. Not able to stand for very long. Gets tired easily so takes a nap, 2-3 hrs a day now. It is the mental part, not knowing what her day will bring, good day, bad day. Not knowing what I can do that day. She also has IBS and it can flair up at any time. One day at a time. I garden, ride my bicycle the 2 miles to the farm, fish here or there, keep the yard up. Make 98% of our meals since we are both on very strict diets. We have an apartment in the old barn at the farm and 2 very small off-grid cabins, one at the lake and 1 at the beach that we are still able to enjoy. God bless....James | |
