I didn't want to go there but since you did I'll throw my two cents in. My suspicion is that the tariffs and wounding of retirement and invest account is part of a plan to strip the middle class of what little wealth they have via hits to retirement and investment accounts and overall higher costs of living all as a result of tariffs. That makes it easier to assert power and control over the masses. That is the conspiracy theorist in me.
