What conditions would cause a 50% pullback, though? The conditions are already here, today, right this moment. Low prices, high interest. Not high interest in historical context, but in the amount owed per acre. Or in lost opportunity cost if paying cash. Folks paying cash are settling for returns half what they could get in other safe secure investments. How long they willing to settle for that. For the naysayers, I have a game I’d like to play with you. It goes like this, I hand you a five dollar bill, and you hand me a ten spot. How long do you want to play?
But land and cash are not apples to apples. The time is not here yet, but may be coming if banks and government let farmers fail at a large rate. But when you only have a few farm bankruptcies per year per state there is not a large enough flush.
Would you rather own land at an inflated price or own Apple which is traded at an unrealistic price of over $2000 per person on earth. There is only one Apple you can eat the rest are paper products. I know several people who don’t invest in the stock market, they invest in land, guns and ammunition. If things get so bad I know which investments I would want. People have access to spend as much money as they want in general, until this changes, things stay stays quo, $500-1000 hand bags, $100,000 trucks, $5000 guns, $3000 scopes, $300 jeans and fancy meals of $100 plus at steak places. Even poor people are carrying these purses and $2000 cell phones.
Btw, I like this friendly banter and different sides and ways of thinking. | |
