"The Left" in the U.S., is center right.

"The Right" in the U.S. has gone full on authoritarian/Fascist. "The Left" isn't anymore left than when Hillary Clinton proposed Universal Health care in the 1980's. The Right, however, who boy. Talking about deporting U.S. citizens to El Salvador? Trump isn't an 80's Democrat by any stretch. He's left that a long time ago. He's now supported and at least partially controlled by folks like the Heritage Foundation, etc.

I WAS a Reagan Republican. There's not much home for me. The Right in MO has basically gone insane. We can't fund much of anything. Can't DO anything. It takes Federal funds to get Rural broadband in a mostly Rural State. Our Roads are crumbling, our bridges and energy infrastructure are largely ****. But we got lot's of talk radio and Fox News everywhere.
