Malta, Illinois | Yes, absolutely farmers could ultimately benefit from new trade agreements. Unfortunately, it seems right now more likely that farmers get the short end of the stick. We really don't know what the ultimate goal is here and what is actually being demanded of our trade counterparts. Until we know more about the details of what is actually being sought it is nothing but will speculation as to who it benefits and how much. The disconcerting part of this is that there seems to be no clear and defined plan with specified goals. One could argue that those details are being kept quiet to enhance negotiations. It feels more like we are shooting in the dark or just throwing anything and everything out there to see what sticks. | |
