The entire site needs VERIFICATION for registering a user name.    The number of burner accounts is getting ridiculous.

1 user name per person = getting the boot is permanent unless you can plead your case to the mods to get reinstated.

Would not be hard to enforce with a $1 charge to a credit card that has to match the name attached to the user account.

Does not even have to make your name public, could be set up so only the mods could see the name for those that are scared to post with their real name attached to what they post on a public forum.

This is on what? 30 year old software? That puts it in the XP/95/98 era, you want to trust it with credit card data?

How many times have you heard of a site or company having a breach or leak? Even hospitals can't escape them.

All it would do is open the site up to a fast bankruptcy and pile of lawsuits. Credit cards usually have a minimum charge, thus the reason you see at small businesses "no credit cards below $x or a $x/x% fee applies".

Use the two Caterpillar forums as an example: the paid one is dead compared to the free one and the hundreds of Facebook groups that also exist.

All charging a fee would do is A. Encourage a new site or B push new people away to Facebook or other sites.

Many credit cards also offer virtual burner cards as well.

I don't believe I have EVER seen that posted, anywhere.

We have a business that accepts credit cards, it's not that difficult.
