Subject: RE: Controlling Giant Ragweed in Organic Farming Systems

Penn Yan, NY
We actually have 6 years of solid seeded grains-
Oats
Wheat
Barley (double crop into buckwheat, huge help)
Triticale forage -> soy
Triticale forage -> dry edible

The 2 years of triticale taken as forage seem to give some of the benefit of a winter grain taken to grain maturity as the summer annual weeds are not very aggressive.

This picture was of IA 1029, they ran 56 bps with 44.1% protein. Planted after triticale taken for forage. 20 years ago this property was fouled with velvetleaf/button weed so badly that we harvested with a rotary mower some years.
