My dad spent his last 5 years in a nursing home after suffering a stroke and being paralyzed on his left side. I visited him every Sunday afternoon and at other times if he was having problems (mom went every day). He passed in November of '08.
Then my mom was in assisted living her last 5 1/2 years and I visited her on Sunday afternoons as well. She passed 9/18/19. Keep in mind that I was still farming full time when all of this was going on.
Even this much later I can hardly make myself visit anyone in a nursing home or assisted living. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I do. On top of this I had a grandfather who spent his last 4 years in a nursing home. | |
