| If we globally eliminate free trade, the US re-shores lower wage manufacturing (the high skill manufacturing did not leave) and we lose a big chunk of our current export businesses. That is just picking winners and losers.
Free trade has globally lifted poverty - it is highly researched, just search it. Winners and losers to every economic policy, but it still does the most good for the most people because you can economically focus on what you are good at. Of all the reasons to want protectionism, poverty rates is not a good pitch. | |
