Would it be reasonable to say that you don't pay estate taxes unless you sell the asset? That was part of the Biden/Harris Estate tax plan. As long as a farm or business stayed in the family then no estate taxes were paid. If it was sold, then taxes were due. This seems reasonable on several fronts.
