People have lost, yes, was it actually due to “free trade”, I would suppose the answer to that is no, since it doesn’t really exist. Closing a plant to avoid regulation, or the fair labors standard act and opening a sweat shop half way around the world isn’t what I would call free trade. I would summarize it as this. In this country we have relatively high standards for environmental and labor regulations, safety quality etc. in many places that mfg has relocated to there are in fact almost no regulations, or very low standards. Under the economic terms of absolute and or comparative advantage, how does one categorize what can be deemed total ruthlessness or indifference? I am for reciprocity. In the fact that an item sold in this country will be subject to the same rules, no matter its origins
