Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I don't have the proper name but I prefer not to use them for various reasons.
If you temporarily remove the strip, you will find three nice stud terminals on the back. The black is common ground, the red is constant 12VDC and the orange is key switched 12VDC. I made a stub wiring harness with ring terminals and Weather Pack connectors following the above color code. That way I can use a mating Weather Pack connector on my devices. Since the Weather Packs are cheap, positive locking and easy to work with, I use them on all my devices following the code of using Pin A for ground (black wire) and Pin B for either constant power (red) or key switched power (orange). This stub can stick out the side when you reattach the power strip to its original location.
I use this standard of connectors in my Ranger, older tractors, trucks, battery chargers etc. so the color code and connectors are standardized around the farm. |
