Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | As I recall, you need to loosen a plug on the fuel filter base slightly and then pump like mad on a hand pump lever below the base of the filter. You should feel resistance as you pump. Air and fuel should start oozing out around the plug. Once fuel starts coming out nicely without bubbles, quickly tighten the plug. The engine may run rough for a bit until all the air is pushed through. I do remember having to crack a few injector lines to get the tractor started in extreme cases.
The newer style fuel systems are much easier in this regard. You just install a new filter and turn on the key without attempting to start the engine. Wait a bit and the fuel pump pushes the air out somewhere. You then can start the engine as usual. |
