Western Oregon | I like mulch in flower beds. Rock around bed with a tree and/or bigger bushes, like Rhodie's. I put a thick layer of chipped tree mulch from the power line companies along grass then barkdust over that. 1st 2 years 2-3" thick, then just takes a thin layer after that to keep grass from creeping. I use a weed eater to edge, every time I mow. I like the 2 different textures and colors of mulch and rock. I use the same rock as is used in septic leach lines. I use weed barrier with rock, not mulch, what few weeds grow pull easy in mulch....James | |
