Sorry about the death in the family.

Table Rock dam is neat to drive across. They have a visitors center and a new fish hatchery if it is opened yet. We like to get carry out and eat at the picnic tables near the boat ramp. Presley's show is good--country music and corny jokes but wholesome. It's at 8pm so makes for a nice day's end activity. As mentioned, College of the Ozarks nearby has a nice small tractor museum, greenhouses, bakery, and Ralph Foster museum. Most sites there are free or very reasonable. Suggestions above are right on too. The strip is busy, but it's all low speed and most folks are friendly. My family loves going there
