See my reply below. I’ve used a lot of ether and seen a lot used without any incident. Pyrolysis resulting in explosion is way more energetic than ether. There’s potential for an interaction between the two processes!

I’ve had a couple tires fail strictly from air pressure and while it’s impressive, as long as you’re not hit by a flap of tire carcass or rim parts if that were to fail, you’re fine from a few feet away.

I’ve never had a tire fail while using ether to seat beads, but I assume it would be similar to a failure from over-pressure with air, though at a higher pressure than the old tires I was inflating.
