Faunsdale, AL | Rancher man, I think you’re wrong there. It’s a chemical reaction that’s started by heat. If it was just a temperature vs pressure deal, in the Bridgestone video, the tire and wheel would have dissipated the small amount of heat that was added to the “system” and nothing would have happened. Instead, the concentrated heat from welding started a pyrolysis reaction in a small area of the tire bead that progressed until the tire exploded.
Pyrolysis is the same process that was used to make municipal “producer” gas for lighting back in the 19th century before electricity was available. Not every city was able to be hooked up to a natural gas field, but they could build a gas plant and use coal to make gas for the town. | |
