Subject: RE: Dog bite

SW OH
Interesting this came up. My daughter just bought her own place and on this past Thursday night she was attacked by 2 of the neighbors 3 dogs. They got her down on the ground, bit her arm, leg, and both hips. She was in her driveway and the dogs had to jump 2 fences to get to her. I have not seen these dogs but one is supposedly a Burmese mountain dog? The dogs are currently in a 10 quarantine in the neighbors barn. We spoke to the neighbor and according to him they are nice dogs and have never bitten before. Our first thought is these dogs will be shot the next time they are on her side of the fence, but we'll see.

As far as treatment the responding paramedic said she needed stitches. The hospital said no, dog bites don't get stitches unless they are much worse. It seems dog bites are very infectious and closing them seals in any infection. She is on 2 different antibiotics. She is very sore but getting better.
