I haven't seen anyone say they don't believe it. I have seen various options suggested based on ones tolerance for risk and reluctance to dismount a tire from the rim. The explosion is obviously caused by pressure, we've all seen tires burn, and they don't explode without pressure. Heck, I've been told several times that ammo doesn't explode or fire outside of a gun barrel.
