If we aren't there yet I can't help but think we are close.


I don't think there is any likely cattle price that will cause a wide spread conversion of row crops to cattle, especially not to cow/calf which is where the whole thing starts.

Cattle are a long term thing, especially cow/calf but even stockers or feeders require longer term planning. Cattle need facilities and more time and attention than row crops. There is little govt insurance in cattle. Never heard of "prevent plant" payments for cattle!

Row crops are a short term thing with lots of government insurance and payments for a wide range of situations.

Thinking "long term" is not very fashionable these days.
