Actually the bugs that eat up the compostable material eventually release a bunch of gas that is about equivalent to burning it, but you do change the timing of it is all.those I. Charge of regulating such stuff haven’t caught on to the reality. Yet anyhow.

As it composts down over the years it really won’t fill in much of anything, it will reduce down to very little. If it actually would build up volume, that would be against the rules in many wetlands/ flood plains as you shouldn’t be filling them in.

A composite pile does work well, although wood wastes are difficult to compost in any real time line.
