Washington Co Ks | A friend of mine from here in Kansas was in the Air Force and was stationed in Michigan for a while. He met a girl there and they got married, I hadn't known my friend all that many years but it just happened that we ran around together the summer before he went into service. Anyway, it surprised me that he asked me to be in the wedding party. My now wife was a neighbor to the bride and was also in the wedding party. We sort of hung around after the wedding and ended up spending the night together. Now don't get any bright ideas. The best man had to leave the morning after the wedding at 5 o'clock and I was going to take him as I had driven to the wedding. I had no idea where the airport was so my now wife offered to direct me. We were afraid that if we went to bed we wouldn't wake up in time so we spent what little night was left drinking coffee and talking. The wedding was late in January and there was more snow than I had ever seen. I went back to see the area without snow and visit the newlyweds and of course to see my now wife. She came back with me for a couple of weeks and flew out again the next summer when we were engaged. Between times there were a lot of letters and phone calls. | |
