East Central Arkansas | It seems we often don't give much thought to some of the local historical events that took place fairly local. This old river town sits on the bank of the White River about 10 miles from where I live. This is St. Charles AR on the West side of the White River. The town is on high ground overlooking the White River. Took a ride to look at the rising water today and made a loop through the old town. Up until about 1980 we had to cross a ferry to get to that side of the river. The road from our side was a low water road that would be under water for long periods of time during high water events like we are having at this time.
