-Thanks for all the responses. We charged the battery on the base and moved the base and the benchmark close. It has worked for 8-10000 feet so I guess the problem is fixed. The base battery was 12v the first day and 12.5 V the second day. My guess is the battery. my helper guessed the distance. We have got by with a 1600ft range before. Maybe it was the combo of distance and power lines.
