| Yes, they went to Headland, AL. There were only shelling plants in the far SE at that time. We hauled as much soil back as we did peanuts. Some had to go to Georgia to be cleaned about 3 times. They wanted to do it a second year but I wasn’t willing to do it again as it wasn’t going to work long term.
Growing them wasn’t an issue. Harvest was the issue. They could be grown and harvested on the light soils there along the river in your area but certainly not south of you. The Patoutville mill was the one trying to see what was possible. | |
