South Central MN | That's what I'm planning on for this spring, did some light tillage in the fall and go out with the planter in spring. Done it before and it works well, I know a lot in my area would never do that but been doing it for several years now, or straight up no-till on some. Once the soil regains its structure underneath it is a lot more forgiving.
Went away from full tillage when I got a planter that could actually no-till, and found it had too much downforce for soft tilled dirt.
Worked ground ahead of a rain here just seals over and stays like muck underneath. When doing full tillage years ago dad and I would only work what could be planted before a rain, anything else just left be. | |
