South Central MN | On the politics side at some point I think a 3rd or 4th party may emerge givens that the 2 right now are grinding both guardrails on the highway down the hill.
Market side seems like grains went up a bit again so might not hurt to get some prices locked in for those who didn't back in January. The US produces quality grain products despite what other nations may signal, and buyers will still be found. Last round of the spat with China soybeans started going elsewhere in the world which isn't a bad thing.
Europe is going to have its own set of ugly issues that will need to be taken care of really soon, so it may get tough over there as well.
On the non-farm market side we kind of sold our soul to China with the manufacturing. Shouldn't have let as much leave as we did but now we have to re-home it somewhere, and if it isn't in the US it needs to be a country that won't work against us. I'm feeling optimistic that Mexico can get rid of the chaos and hopefully become a much closer trade partner in the long run. Maybe if the standard of living improves south of the border we won't have near as many trying to sneak across it into the US. | |
