Subject: RE: Fancy new planters and yield?

East Central, Nebraska
it always depends on what your situation requires. i strip tilled into perfect strips using hydraulic drives and spring down pressure for years. then i wasn't getting my strip tilling done like i wanted and found great value in clean sweep and hydraulic downforce from PP. this year going to try speed tubes and move it all on a little quicker. i think we as farmers deal with this same thing every day outside of planters. there is always a snake oil being sold to remedy all soil problems or a new combine that going to do everything you ever dreamt of. we as farmers just have to pick through the nonsense and find what pays. with all the important planter add ons im probably going to quit using the in furrow starter tanks. i have done trial after trial of 10-34 and all the low salt alternatives and then went the biological route and growth regulators. im not seeing what i am supposed to be seeing and believe it is because im not deficient in the things they are selling me on. so at the end of the day do whats best for you and throw the rest out. i think the planter attachment argument is pretty easy, ask your neighbor with the old 7000 deere or the other neighbor with the new deere to maybe make some passes with you and see what works and dont.
