Subject: RE: Prostate biopsy and PSA

WC IL
We buried my BIL 15 months ago. He died from prostate cancer. Thought he was indestructible and ignored his symptoms until he literally could not pee. Had 3 catheters inserted during his first visit to the hospital, one in his bladder and one directly into each kidney. His was advanced enough, and had spread to the lymph notes around it, that they told him there was nothing they could do for him but alleviate his pain as best as possible.
Have been getting a PSA test annually for at least 15 years, I’m 68 now. Had an elevated score last year, had been slowly increasing for several years, went to a urologist, had a long frank discussion. Said I was kind of right on the line between wait and see and having a biopsy. He recommended a biopsy and I agreed. Out of 24 samples, 6 were cancerous, 1 a 6 on the Gleason scale and the others all 3 or under. I had 4 abdominal surgeries 22 years ago so I was not a good candidate for having it removed. Had brachytherapy on December 18, 87 pellets inserted. Had my first follow up 2 weeks ago, doctor said I was only the third prostate cancer patient he had treated this way to have their PSA score drop as dramatically and quickly as mine did, usually it will be quite elevated at 3 months post treatment.
I only watched part of the video, will watch the rest later. But I can tell you there was no way I was going to do nothing and risk going through what my BIL went through. He went through hell for his last 4 months.
