Kind of, but the pre 60s tractors Lack things like closed center hydraulics, 3 point, and 1000 PTO.
A 4020 can still do pretty much everything a brand new 90 hp tractor can. Still a lot of them out there making money and I doubt that will change anytime soon.
Around here anyways, as time goes on, the average age of powered farm equipment used on farms continues to get older.
I agree with this. As long as diesel fuel is available, those 1960's and 70's tractors will remain relevant. There's nothing quite like a narrow-front 3020, for spinning around at the end of tomato rows within its own footprint. You can come very close to rotating on the inner rear wheel without even touching the brake pedal, and that's very handy in tight vegetable fields.
There's still a demand for those 65-hp tricycle tractors. But the demand is low enough that it's being met entirely by the used market. The OEMs simply don't need to produce tractors for a market that's already well supplied with used units. |
