Central NE | dryland farmground next to me just sold as 20 acre ranchetts or hobby farms for $15,000 per acre. this is close to town.
a year ago, nothing like it would have cost more than $10,000 per acre,
if you used grandpas money that he placed and buried in the creamcan since 1932, it would cost him $92 dollars per acre to buy that farm. TODAY A year ago "here" it would have been $82.
when farmland seems to be "going up" and it takes $3257 federal reserve notes to buy grandpas $20 piece of money, you just have to realize its the currency falling. not the other way around.
this property I tried to buy in high school (1989?) for $800 per acre but got out manuvered. gold then was about 200 per oz so i was bidding $80 per acre in comparrison to grandpas cream can money. I guess it hasn't "gained" in value as much as "gained" in capital gains tax liability.
what would your land cost grandpa today? (current price / $3257 x 20)
